BBCOR Baseball Bats are the standard for adult use. Adult baseball bats are often times referred to as high school baseball bats or college baseball bats and is the term you should be familiar with when researching the best BBCOR baseball bat for you. BBCOR stands for ‘Bat-Ball Coefficient of Restitution,’ which is different than how baseball bats were generally measured. Implemented to make the game of baseball safer, BBCOR baseball bats measure the trampoline effect of the bat rather than measuring the ratio of the ball exit speed off of the bat. The reason for this is to ensure that composite bats perform more comparably to wood bats essentially leveling the playing field and making the game safer.

The BBCOR evaluation system is in my opinion a fantastic way to regulate the game. As technology is getting better, the ball is flying off the face of the bat faster than ever before. Despite the ability to hit more dingers, the speed in which the ball is travelling is making it unsafe for pitchers. You might remember the time J.A. Happ was hit by a comebacker last year and how horrific it was. That was with a wooden bat! Imagine that same swing with an unregulated composite bat and you can guess that J.A. Happ might never have pitched another game in his career.
Another reason I like the BBCOR evaluation system is that it prepares kids for the MLB in a much better way. As unregulated composite bats are easier to hit the ball farther, swinging for the fences has never been more attractive. This is unfortunately the wrong way to learn how to swing and when kids have to learn to hit with wood baseball bats, they don’t have the same success.
Finally, I really like the BBCOR system because it levels the playing field. Because the unregulated bats vary in quality, it seems unfair that the richest team will be much better off only because they can buy a much more powerful bat. I know you could argue that the same can be said for any sport, but a baseball bat really can make all the difference in a game.
BBCOR baseball bats feature a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter and have a -3 length to weight ratio or ‘drop’. To give you an example of a bat which has a -3 length to weight ratio, a bat which measure 33 inches and weighs 30 ounces will meet the qualification of a BBCOR baseball bat. Need a bat which is a bit lighter? You’ll have to take an inch off and make it 32 inches and 29 ounces. Since there are always changes to the BBCOR standards for adult baseball bats in the past few years, its important to buy a newer model bat which was manufactured in either 2013 or 2014. For this reason, the bats you’ll read about below meet all current BBCOR standards and will be ready for play in your respective league. HOWEVER, always check your league for banned bats as there are some models which might meet BBCOR standards but have been banned from your respective league.

The Voodoo Paradox has a number of new features which we are extremely excited about it and let me tell you- it makes a difference out on the ball diamond.
One of the features that I think makes the biggest difference is the X10 alloy barrel which maintains the thinnest possible barrel walls to keep the weight down and open up a bigger sweet spot than ever before. In our batting practice, we were blown away by just how well this bat made balls explode off the face no matter if it was off the end of the bat or the handle. The extended sweetspot paired with one of the stiffest handles to date, you’ll have more control over the Voodoo Paradox than any other BBCOR baseball bat you’ve held before.
As with all DeMarini bats, the company hits another homerun with the ultra sick graphics. The ‘look good, feel good’ has never had so much meaning until you step up to the plate holding this baby. The final feature I enjoy is the end cap which really does eliminate vibrations. There is nothing worse than taking a bat out for a swing and not having the confidence that it’s going to ring in your hands. Naturally, you can always wear a pair of batting gloves but even still, the ringing can still be apparent.

A lot of the top stars including Jose Bautista and the like wear Marucci batting gloves, baseball gloves and baseball bats. One could argue in fact that Marucci is the best producer of baseball gear in the world based on the results they have helped produce from the top athletes in baseball.
The Marucci Elite 2 is one of the top bats available in 2014 and uses multi-material barrel technology to create a faster swing speed with bigger sweet spots. They do this by fusing composite and aluminum materials together along the length of the barrel. This technology along with the removal of the end cap makes the Marucci Elite 2 not only one of the best performers but best feeling bats in your hands.
In our testing we were extremely impressed with the performance of the Elite 2 even right out of the wrapper. The Kevlar handle really seemed to take the sting off the ball when we made contact outside of the sweetspot. Compared to other bats, I felt like I was getting extra power out of the Elite 2 and felt like I had a lot of control.
Obviously the price reflects alot of the quality in the Elite 2 and it isn’t cheap but it will definitely buy you some hits!

On sale for sometimes as low as $39.99 this bat will provide you with homeruns for days! Brought to you by the good people at Lousiville Slugger, you can be rest assured that despite the price, the quality of this bat is still fantastic.
Recommended for the more recreational ball player, this particular model is end-loaded which means it’s generally designed for the power hit in your line-up. I have spoken to many JV team coaches who have included this bat in their arsenal and I have been extremely impressed with the results. Make sure to select the size of bat which is the best for you as you don’t want something that is going to be too heavy as an end-loaded bat which is even slightly too heavy will cause you all sorts of problems on the diamond.
