Often times, finding the best baseball bat for you includes finding the right price as well. Although everyone would love to have a top-of the line composite bats which costs upwards of $300, sometimes it just isn’t affordable. For this reason, we have comprised a few reviews of our favorite discount baseball bats which are sure to fit your budget. They may not have as much ‘pop,’ as the DeMarini Voodoo, but they will still serve you well no matter what league you happen to play in.
Often times, the more affordable baseball bats are made of aluminum compared to a composite material. Although you will lose some performance, aluminum bats typically are much more durable. We have a number of aluminum bats in our baseball bags which have been used for years and are still working as if they were new (except broken in J).

One of the most affordable bats on the market, the Easton BK6 Typhoon not only provides hitters with value but also a tremendous amount of pop. Sworn by some to be even better than it’s composite counterparts, the Typhoon is crafted from 7046 aircraft alloy and features Easton’s brace barrel technology which provides the batter with increased control and improved bat speed.
This is an adult sized bat which means it has a ‘drop’ of minus three. You have a few different options for weight and length while featuring a 2 5/8-inch extended barrel. The grip is durable and feels good in the hands which is important as you expect aluminum bats to hold up over a long period of time. It can be frustrating when you have to go through the hassle of replacing the grip on a cheaper bat because it is made of cheap material. This is not the case with the BK6 Typhoon.
If you often play in temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit I would be cautious of experiencing fractures in the bat. Aluminum bats (as well as composite) can be negatively affected by the cold and it is best to use junk bats if you’re in a cold weather situation. Because the Typhoon is so affordable, it might very well end up being your junk bat.
Overall, this is a fantastic bat for the money. In fact, it may be the best value bat on the market. Highly recommended.

However, with the release of the Plasma Alloy, Rawlings are a competitor with one of the best value bats on the market and one of the best aluminum bats in general.
Made of aerospace grade 5150 alloy, the Plasma will be one of the more durable bats you ever swing. As a general rule, aluminum bats are often more durable when compared to composite bats however the Plasma in particular goes above and beyond.
Something we really like beyond the durability of the Plasma is the ‘pop’. Featuring Rawling’s very own Precision-Optimized Performance technology, the trampoline and barrel flex are impressive. As in composite bats, the trampoline effect is what provides the ‘pop,’ of the bat. While the Plasma is not multi-layered like a composite bat is, the technology allows the bat to flex quite well providing a result similar to a composite bat.
In testing, both the Easton Typhoon and Plasma were comparable. We would argue that the Typhoon has a little bit more ‘pop,’ but not enough to make a significant different. The Plasma seems to be a more durable product and if we know anything about Rawlings, all of their products are made with the highest of quality.
Youth & High School Cheap Baseball Bats

Purchasers have a few different options as to what length and weight they prefer but this particular model has a drop of -8.
We found this bat out of the wrapper to have a little bit of a break in period but nothing serious. Obviously, this particular model isn’t going to give you the same performance as its composite counterparts but it still does a great job and probably matches your budget a little bit better.
Durability wise, Demarini always make their bats to last and the Distance is no different as it is made with DX1 Alloy which aims to deliver balance while maintaining durability. It also features a shock diffusion handle which will hopefully keep the ‘bees’ out of the hands in the case you hit the ball outside the sweetspot.

Just a reminder, little league bats are defined by a 2 ¼ inch barrel and have a ‘drop,’ between -8 and -13.5. The Easton LX73 Reflex shown here has a ‘drop,’ of -13 and is meant for those players requiring a little bit extra swing speed. It’s also meant for those looking for unbelievable value.
Made with 7050 aircraft alloy, this is a classic Easton made bat balancing both durability and performance. Although not advertised, the Reflex feels slightly end-loaded which is nice as the drop is so significant it will help to produce additional power in the swing. We also liked the anti-vibration technology which is often very helpful for kids in the little league age group as stinging will prevent kids from having full confidence at the plate.

Defined as a big barrel bat because of its 2 ¾ inch barrel, the Lithium Prodigy has a drop of -10 and is great for kids needing to increase bat speed and for those looking for power.
There is an argument that the best aluminum bats are actually easier to hit than composite bats as they tend to have a larger sweet spot.I am not exactly sure how true the above statement is however whatever feels most comfortable in the hands is what should be swung. You do not necessarily need a $250 bat to be successful on the baseball field but obviously, it won’t hurt. There are some cheap aluminum baseball bats that won’t perform up to your expectation but the Lithium Prodigy isn’t one of them.
The Lithium Prodigy features a silencer grip to reduce sting and also uses Worth’s whiplash technology to improve bat speed. A great bat for the price; happy hitting!
